Day 1 : Beirut
You will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Day 2 : Beirut
Join a small group walking tour of the city. Learn how Beirut was originally settled more than 5,000 years ago, and prospered as a Roman city-state from 15 BC. Visit recently renovated Nejmeh Square and see the famous central clock tower constructed during WWI, see Martyr’s Statue in Martyr’s Square, and see the National Museum of Beirut, the home of vast collections of archaeological artefacts. Stroll around to view the highlights displayed in its galleries, such as prized Phoenician statues, Byzantine mosaics and Roman pieces.
Day 3 : Sidon > Tyre
Full day small group sightseeing tour of the Crusader sea fortress and ruins of Saida. Sidon has been inhabited since very early in prehistory. Visit the sea fortress, Khan el Franj (caravanserai), Debbane Palace, soap museum and old souk (market). Continue to Tyre, an ancient Phoenician city and the legendary birthplace of Europa and Dido (Elissa). Tyre was originally formed when Alexander the Great connected the island to the mainland by constructing a causeway during his siege of the city.
Day 4 : Baalbek > Aanjar > Ksara
Full day small group tour. Inhabited as early as 9,000 BC, Baalbek grew into an important pilgrimage site in the ancient world for the worship of the Phoenician sky-god Baal and his consort Astarte, the Queen of Heaven. Continue to the Umayyad ruins of Aanjar, before visiting Chateau Ksara, Lebanon’s oldest winery, to try some of the internationally recognised wines.
Day 5 : Byblos > Jeita > Harissa
Private full day sightseeing of Byblos, Jeita Grotto, and Harissa. Take a boat ride on a subterranean lake to see stunning Jeita Grotto, an ancient system of karstic limestone caves, before continuing to Byblos, one of the oldest cities on earth. Finally stop at Harissa to see the Statue of the Virgin Mary, including the chapel and spiral staircase, and look out over impressive views of the Bay of Jounieh.
Day 6 : Beirut
Day at leisure to explore independently.
Day 7 : Beirut
Transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
