Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Rio de Janeiro
On arrival in Rio de Janeiro today, check into your hotel before enjoying time to recharge or stroll along the stunning Copacabana beachfront. Join a Welcome Reception tonight.
Day 2: Rio de Janeiro
Today, head to Corcovado Mountain and visit the incredible statue of Christ the Redeemer, the world’s largest art deco sculpture. Admire the breathtaking views of Rio de Janeiro and its stunning surroundings. Later, take in the beautiful sunset during a cable car ride up to Sugarloaf Mountain. In the evening, an Insider Experience awaits.
Insider Experience – A Taste of Rio de Janeiro
Sample the country’s national cocktail, the caipirinha, before enjoying a sumptuous Brazilian barbecue dinner at one of Rio de Janeiro’s churrasco restaurants. Marvel as roaming waiters, wielding giant skewers of barbecued chicken, steak, pork and sausage, slice off portions onto your plate, table-side.
Day 3: Rio de Janeiro

Day 4: Rio de Janeiro, Iguazú Falls
Fly to Iguazú Falls, a system of 275 falls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. On the Brazilian side, experience the breathtaking beauty of World Heritage-listed Iguaçu National Park during a half-day tour. Walk through spectacular subtropical rainforest and take in astounding panoramic views of the Falls.

Day 5: Iguazú Falls
On the Argentine side of Iguazú Falls, ride the Rainforest Ecological Train to a series of walkways and viewing points. This narrow-gauge train stops at several locations, including one that leads to the 82-metre-high Devil’s Throat, one of the most spectacular falls of the region. Board a speedboat and get up close to the mighty Iguazú Falls, feeling the raw power of the cascades as you race through the rapids. This unforgettable experience offers an awe-inspiring view of the falls’ grandeur from a thrilling perspective.
Day 6: Buenos Aires
Spend the morning at leisure before being transferred to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires, Argentina’s cosmopolitan capital.
Day 7: Buenos Aires
Enjoy a guided city tour today followed by an Insider Experience. In the evening, another incredible Insider Experience awaits.
Insider Experience – Traditional Coffee House
Journey back in time and visit a traditional coffee house with a rich history. While there, savour a cup of delicious coffee and a selection of Spanish delicacies. Buenos Aires is renowned for its coffee culture, emblematic of the city’s social atmosphere.
Insider Experience – Tango Show in Buenos Aires
There’s no better place than Buenos Aires in Argentina to take in an energetic and intense tango show. See how the locals perform their traditional dance and be mesmerised by the passion, creativity and history that this dance encompasses.
Day 8: Buenos Aires, Embark Holland America Line Cruise
Board Holland America Line’s MS Oosterdam for a cruise through the Chilean fjords, with an overnight stay at the dock.
Day 9: Buenos Aires
As part of your Holland America Line cruise, an extensive range of activities and excursions are on offer at every port (own expense). Upon waking in Buenos Aires today, you may choose to relax on board or perhaps set off to explore the city further on an excursion. In the evening, the ship sets sail for its first destination, marking the beginning of your cruise.
Day 10: Montevideo
Wake to views of Uruguay’s capital Montevideo. Here, perhaps take a tour of the city’s Old Town or explore the quaint streets of World Heritage-listed Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay’s oldest town. Alternatively, savour lunch and a wine-tasting at Juanico Winery or head down the coast to explore Punta del Este, known as the Saint-Tropez of Uruguay.
Day 11: At Sea
Admire the ever-changing scenery as you glide along Argentina’s coastline. Make use of your ship’s premium facilities, and perhaps select from a range of onboard experiences including cooking demonstrations, workshops and natural world presentations with BBC Earth Experiences. Afternoon tea is served daily.
Day 12: At Sea
Spend the day at sea, bound for the Falkland Islands, and enjoy further time to relax and unwind.
Day 13: Stanley, Falkland Islands
Explore the port town of Stanley today, the Falkland Islands’ remote capital. The Falkland Islands were first colonised by the British in 1765, a history that is evident all throughout the town, from the red phone boxes through to the charming pubs. Perhaps take a historical tour or join one of the many wildlife activities available. You might like to see penguins at one of the world’s largest rookeries, which is home to five of the world’s 18 species of penguins – the Gentoo, Magellanic, Southern Rockhopper, Macaroni and King penguin.
Day 14: Strait of Magellan
For centuries, the Strait of Magellan was a vital sailing route between the Atlantic and Pacific, first navigated by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520. Though the Panama Canal reduced its commercial use, it remains a top cruising destination. Now, it’s your turn to explore this legendary passage.
Day 15: Punta Arenas
A cruise around the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, via the Cockburn and Beagle channels, brings you to Punta Arenas. Just a short flight away, perhaps discover the glaciers and peaks of World Heritage-listed Torres del Paine National Park. Alternatively, go sea kayaking, take a heritage walking tour, set off on a wildlife tour on Magdalena Island, or enjoy an exclusive visit to Antarctica.
Day 16: Ushuaia
Back in Argentina, arrive in Ushuaia, the world’s southernmost town. Here, activities include city walking tours, a heritage train ride and a 4WD wilderness safari.
Day 17: Cape Horn
Cruise around South America’s most southerly point, where Argentina and Chile converge. Take in views of the treeless headland on Hornos Island.
Day 18: Canal Sarmiento, Amalia Glacier
Cruise the Canal Sarmiento today, one of the main channels in Patagonia, where glaciers descend into turquoise waters. With the Chilean mainland to the east and the islands of Esperanza, Vancouver and Piazzi flanking the channel to the west, the scenery is spectacular.
Day 19: Chilean Fjords
Chile’s fjord region sprawls some 1,500 kilometres. Today, your ship will not sail in a straight line – rather, it will meander along the jagged coast, through fjords and iceberg-strewn bays fringed by mountains.
Day 20: Puerto Montt
Arrive in the Chilean town of Puerto Montt, considered the gateway to the region’s lakes, volcanic landscapes, and national parks. While ashore, among other excursions available, you might like to visit a unique 100-year-old German settlement or meet the Indigenous communities of Mapuche people.
Day 21: At Sea
Enjoy a final day at sea. Retreat to your favourite spot on board or stand on deck and savour the views for the last time.
Day 22: Disembark Cruise San Antonio, Valparaíso, Santiago
Disembark in San Antonio and travel to Valparaíso for a tour of the World Heritage-listed town centre and a trip into the surrounding hills. Then continue to the Chilean capital of Santiago.
Day 23: Santiago

Insider Experience – Santiago by Funicular and Cable Car
Embark on a guided tour of Santiago, and explore its modern and historic sites. Wander through the Plaza de Armas de Santiago, a bustling urban square and symbolic heart of the city. Take in spectacular views of Santiago as you ride a cable car up San Cristóbal Hill. Then travel on a funicular through Parque Metropolitano, a 722-hectare park set above the city.
Day 24: Santiago, Lima
After breakfast, fly to Lima, Peru’s capital, and explore its historic centre. Visit the 16th-century Iglesia de Santo Domingo, a striking pink convent and the resting place of three Peruvian saints. Then, savour lunch in a historic mansion.
Day 25: Lima, Cusco, Chinchero, Sacred Valley
After breakfast, fly to the World Heritage-listed city of Cusco, the former capital of the Inca Empire. Travel through Cusco to Chinchero, a city located in the stunning Andean highlands. Here, you will enjoy an enriching Insider Experience. Later, head to your premium hotel in the Sacred Valley, where another Insider Experience awaits.

Insider Experience – Pisac Ruins
Visit the Pisac ruins and gain a deeper insight into the Inca Empire. Perched atop a high hill overlooking the town, the unique Inca archaeological site features impressive agricultural terracing, military structures, and working water channels. From the back of the citadel, you can gaze across the Kitamayo Gorge, where hundreds of Inca tombs are carved into the cliff face.
Insider Experience – A Taste of the Sacred Valley
Savor an authentic taste of traditional culture and cuisine during a visit to a local family home in the Sacred Valley, where you’ll be treated to a home-cooked Andean meal.

Day 27: Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu
This morning, enjoy a special Insider Experience with a scenic train journey to Machu Picchu. Upon arrival, join a guided walking tour of the legendary Lost City of the Incas, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

Enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscape as you travel through the Urubamba River Valley to Aguas Calientes, the town at the base of Machu Picchu. The Andes Mountains provide a dramatic backdrop as you pass through lush vegetation, dense forests and cascading waterfalls, taking in the breathtaking views through the train’s panoramic windows.
Day 28: Machu Picchu, Cusco
With the morning free, consider exploring the vibrant stalls of the Mercado de Artesanias craft market in Aguas Calientes. Later, reboard your train for a wonderful journey to Ollantaytambo station before a coach returns you to Cusco. In the evening, indulge in a delicious Peruvian dinner accompanied by a captivating traditional folklore show at a local restaurant.
Day 29: Cusco
Today, a guided walking tour of Cusco will take you to the city’s historic heart, the Plaza de Armas. You will visit Koricancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun, once the most important temple in the Inca Empire. Though it was ruined in the 16th century, its stonework now forms the foundation of the Baroque Church and Convent of Santo Domingo. Day 30: Puno, Lake Titicaca
Take a coach to Puno, a city on the shores of Lake Titicaca. Along the way, stop in the town of Andahuaylillas to visit San Pedro Apóstol, a 16th-century baroque chapel known as the ‘Sistine Chapel of the Andes’ for its stunning murals and ornate interior. Day 32: Puno, Lima
